Sorry, again!

Well, you are probably tired of reading our apologies, but here is another one: We're Sorry that we have neglected our blog. The trimester is finally over for Jeff and, although he is starting his new program at school (one night a week for 4 credits for 6 weeks) we hope to have more time to post about what is going on.

Right now Abbi's Father and Stepmother are visiting and we just got home from a wonderful Thai restaurant. The food was excellent (yes, even Jeff loved it) and the service was incredible. If anyone wants some great Thai, all you have to do is visit. :) Tomorrow we are planning on going up to Pikes Peak on the Cog Railway. Jeff is very excited but Abbi does not really like heights all that much and has a tendency to get altitude sickness.

Joey is growing up so fast we can hardly believe it. Some pants he got for Christmas that were too big are fitting him perfectly right now. Joey is also reading and he is learning his double-digit numbers up to 100 (well I guess his double-digit numbers up to 99 and his one triple-digit number...whatever, I'm tired). We are also learning more and more about his food sensitivities and adjusting our diets accordingly.

Eli is also growing in leaps and bounds. He isn't walking yet which surprised us all as we thought he would beat Joey's benchmark at 10 months and 1 week. Eli does, however, have a vocabulary of about 15 words and can crawl faster and better than Joey ever did. He also does the baby talk all day long. He is incredibly cute and we hope to have more pics up soon as we have received a new digital camera to replace the old one that doesn't work so well anymore.

Abbi is trying to grow dreadlocks. Yes she still does wash her hair and no there are no dead bugs or dead leaves or mud or anything gross like that in it. We are realizing, however, that dreads are a very involved process and we are not sure if now is a good time to try it. Abbi is also very good at getting groceries with two small children and a buggy while taking the bus.

Well, I guess that's it for right now. I know it's just a small snapshot of all that is going on, but you can always call or reply to this post if you have more questions.

Thank you and God bless you all!

HE'S BACK!!!

In the midst of a very difficult day at work today, I heard some great news that lifted me out of my bad-day feelings: Brett Favre is coming back as quarterback of the Green Bay Packers! This is great news for Packers fans. Man do I feel good.

We're back!

Sorry, sorry, sorry! We have been extremely busy these past few weeks and have not had the time to post.

What's new? Well, Eli is "cruising" around on everything. He talks all the time, but the only intelligible things so far are "mommy" and something that we assume is "Joey."

Joey is learning new things everyday. He is "pre"-reading, meaning he can look at the pictures in books and understand what is going on. He has some books memorized ("There's a Wocket in my Pocket" is one of his favs).

Abbi is extremely adept at getting around town on the bus with two kids and a buggy full of groceries (no more accidents!).

Jeff is about to start a new program in school where he will go to class one night a week and get his degree in two years. The classes run for 6 weeks and are 4 credits each, so there will be more work involved but everyone is excited about the extra time he will be home during the week (right now he is gone 3 nights a week).

Also, Jeff's first experience behind the pulpit has finally been added to the church's website. (The guy who puts the sermons on the website is a rocket scientist. Literally. No, really, he is actually a rocket scientist. He had a launch and a baby since Jeff preached so he has been kinda busy. OK, his wife had the baby. Don't be so literal.) The website address is www.springslife.org At the top of the page you will see a link that says "Listen Online" After you click on that find my name and click on the "Real Audio" link on the right side. The date is December 9.

More info, pics, stuff to come. Stay tuned (tooned?).

Joey and Eli

I think they like each other. What do you think?

Christmas Eve

It was a beautiful Christmas Eve in Colorado Springs. There was still snow from our blizzard and it started snowing again at dusk. We all went for a walk to see Christmas lights. Abbi knew a neighborhood that puts out luminaries every year so we were all very excited to see it all lit up. Joey was especially excited because there was a nativity scene at a house that would not showcase the baby Jesus until Christmas Eve. The neighborhood is about 4 or 5 blocks away. We had Joey and Eli all bundled up: Eli with mommy in the Mai Tai (soft carrier) and Joey looking like a "Christmas Taco" (wrapped in a blanket) in the buggy. I guess Joey was a little too warm and cozy and the long busy day a little too long and busy because just before we got to the house with the nativity, he fell asleep. We wouldn't let him take a nap so he would go to bed early and we could set up his new present from his Papaw and it all caught up with him at the exact wrong time. Oh well. Sorry Joey. The walk was still very pretty with the snow falling and the lights glowing. Next year maybe Joey can stay awake and see the lights.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Joey

Joey has some new favorite phrases that he loves to astound us with. (Yeah I know I ended that sentence with a preposition. So?) Here are a few: (Remember Joey is only 3 years old.)
"I don't know what you are talking about."
"I don't know what that means."
"I don't care."
"I don't understand what you are saying."
"No, you calm down!"

We learn something new everyday from him.
